In December 2010 Jesse Lindibauer, suffered a ruptured brain abscess brought on by a sinus infection leaking into his brain. Despite no previous symptoms, Jesse was suddenly fighting brain trauma, meningitis, and other complications brought on by the abscess. After eleven weeks at Mott, Jesse returned home where family and friends supported his health care costs through various fundraisers. One of these fundraisers, a 5K Run, which had a goal of 500 participants, exceeded many expectations with over 1800 runners raising more than $45,000 for Jesse’s road to recovery. The following year it was decided that the event in Jesse’s name would continue on to help other members of the Plymouth-Canton community affected by major life challenges. To date the SJ5K has raised over $270,000 to assist nineteen families these past six years.

This year’s race will be held on May 7th, 8 am at Plymouth-Canton Educational Park (P-CEP) to benefit seven different local families in crisis and CertaPro of Plymouth will be a proud sponsor. Come out as a race participant, an enthusiastic cheerleader or even a silent donor. One of their slogans is “Nothing is out of reach when we come together!” Let’s all come together and help those in our community who’s needs are great!
